Piracy Alert 03.02.2013
A Liberian flag tanker reported a suspicious approach by a skiff with 6-7 people on board on 01-02-2013 in position Lat 12 00N / Lon 044 34E.
Skiff approached the vessel at full speed. After crossing the distance of 500m, ESCGS's security team on board the tanker shot a signal flare as the visual warning. Some seconds after that the skiff cleared away at full speed as armed guards was discovered on board.
NB! Automatic rifles AK-s were seen and some shots were heard.
All vessels are advised to keep clear of this position and to exercise extreme caution if in vicinity.
